Historical Reference Material

A team of local volunteers give many hours of their time to assist with processing photographs, documents and records. They also undertake research projects on local areas which are then made available to the public. A computerised index of the below items is searchable by members of the UCHR Society upon request.

Contact us via the contact page with your request to purchase an item and we will provide you with instructions on payment and the reference# to use and we will organise your purchase to be delivered to you or you can pickup from the Wanaka Library.

Photographs:

A large collection of prints, negatives and digital scans dating from the 1860s is available to view.
Photographs are in display folders and may be accessed through Wanaka Library staff or a duty member of the UCHRS.

To view, please arrange an appointment with a Society committee member. Wānaka Library staff can assist with this.

Copies in digital format may be obtained by first completing and signing an Order Form that includes a description of the proposed use of the copy/ies.

  3. Where research services are required to search, analyse and interpret available files, separate fees will apply.

People’s Biography and Memorials:

The Past Perfect database Peoples Biography section has a brief summary of the Upper Clutha Pioneer Family Register names, plus others, linked to relevant documentation held in the database such as written histories, photographs etc., which allows quicker access to find information when researching.

The Plaque Memorial File – records citation, GPS co-ordinates of plaque and a photograph.

Sports Clubs, Associations and Societies:

Minute books, financial records, memorabilia and some recent histories.
